Traffic relief for the municipality of Heiterwang

After over three years of construction, the bypass for Heiterwang was opened on the 27 October 2010 relieving the municipality of the through traffic. The project comprises a bypass road with two directional lanes with an overall length of approx. 4 km, a junction, a T-junction, 2 cut-and-cover tunnels with a length of 340 m and 420 m, respectively, several bridges as well as avalanche and mudslide protection structures.

On behalf of the Tyrolean Regional Government, ILF was responsible for the overall preliminary design, the road design, the geological-hydrogeological works as well as the design and tender of the operating facilities for the tunnels.
