Breakthrough of Perschling Tunnels, Austria

After meeting serious challenges during the construction phase, the shield machine "Simone" broke through the Raingruben Tunnel on March 11th 2009. Altogether, the excavation works of the three tunnels (Stierschweiffeld, Reiseberg and Raingruben) of a total length of 6,229 m took nearly three and a half years. The client is the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB).
ILF is responsible for the tunnel design, construction management and geotechnical engineering on site.
