After nearly 23 months of intensive construction works, the time has come. On March 3rd 2009 at 5:40 pm, the breakthrough of the New Schluechterner Tunnel (3,995 m) on the Fulda - Frankfurt/Main railway line took place. The tunnel was driven by a tunnel driving machine of a diameter of 10.24 m and was completed with a waterproof single-shell segmental lining.
German Railways commissioned ILF (together with partners) to carry out the project management and the construction supervision of the whole project.
