Railway line Vidin - Sofia, Bulgaria: Successful completion of design phase

After two years, the preliminary design phase for the major project in Bulgaria concerning the modernization of the 270 km long railway line between Vidin and Sofia (part of the Trans-European Network No.22) was completed in November 2009.

An international consortium, with the participation of ILF, elaborated a technical and financial feasibility study for the Bulgarian Ministry of Transport. Based on this, the concept design, the tender design for the environmental impact statement, guidelines for the operation and maintenance as well as the tender and implementation concept were prepared.
