CO2 transportation pipeline in Poland

On 22 June 2012 ILF Consulting Engineers signed a contract with PGE Górnictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna S.A. for the preliminary design of a CO2 transportation pipeline. The project is executed in relation to the construction of a demonstration installation of capture, transportation and geological storage of carbon dioxide (CCS), which will be integrated with the newly constructed 858 MW power unit in Bełchatów Power Plant. The investment includes a CO2 capture installation (CCP – Carbon Capture Plant of equivalent power of > 250 MW) and the installation for the pumping of compressed CO2 into the ground (deep saline aquifers) for permanent storage.

The scope of services includes the setting out of the pipeline route and carrying out an environmental impact assessment. ILF is also responsible for the preparation of a functional application program which will be included in the terms of reference in the public procurement proceeding regarding the selection of the pipeline contractor.
