City Tunnel Leipzig - "Leonie" has reached her final destination

Its done. On October 31, 2008, the tunnel boring machine "Leonie" broke through the last concrete sealing block under huge public attention in the underground station of the Hauptbahnhof station in Leipzig.

The City Tunnel of Leipzig is one of the most import current infrastructure projects in Germany. The project consists of two single-track tunnels each with an outer diameter of nine metres and a length of approx. four kilometres (including ramps and stations). Upon completion in 2012, the City tunnel will connect the Hauptbahnhof station Leipzig and the Bayerische Bahnhof station below ground surface.

ILF has been involved in this project since 2004 and has been entrusted, in cooperation with other companies, with the site management and the construction supervision.
