Complete design and engineering services (project design including architecture, statics, mechanical services (heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, plumbing), construction supervision) for the construction of a new hot-rolling mill for the company Plansee SE.

The factory building consists of two bays, one housing the rolling mill and the other one housing the straightener. The individual bays have a size of 30.0 m x 59.5 m and 28.0 x 42.5 m respectively. Each bay is equipped with a crane installed at a height of 11.30 m and weighing 102.5 tonnes and 40 tonnes respectively.

The building’s design with a monitor roof made it possible to use truss structures with an overall height of about 4.8 m. The hall is composed of alternating low and high bays oriented in an East-West direction. The height of the high bay is limited to 20.5 m. On the northern side of the production hall, an infrastructure annex to each bay was added as reinforced concrete structure.

Part of the production hall was built with a basement, accommodating space for hydraulic components, corridors and scrap metal, as well as special foundations for the rolling mill and the straightener.

Peikko column shoes were used to connect the precast columns of the production hall with the in-situ concrete foundation. The hall roof consists of 4.8 m high timber trusses. Between these trusses, wood sandwich panels were either placed between the lower or the upper chords.
