Tbilisi Railway Bypass Project

“Georgian Railways” LLC (hereafter GR) is implementing Tbilisi Railway Bypass Project (the Project). The Project is to be implemented in 2010-2013 and it is anticipated that the Project will be co-financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and GR. The Project is in direct support of the Tbilisi Municipal Government’s City Development Plan. GR has applied for a loan in the amount of up to EUR 250 million for a project to finance the construction of a new railway bypass around the city of Tbilisi and the redevelopment of an existing alignment in the centre of Tbilisi.

The works under the Project comprise the construction of the new railroad, buildings and facilities in the northern part of the capital which will be procured under one works contract.
