The Line 12 project of the urban train of Mexico City is considered one of the biggest infrastructure projects in Mexico of the next years because of the investment required.
Its name Linea 12 Dorada del Bicentenario (Golden line 12 of the Bicentenary) honours the two hundred years of the independence of Mexico and the one hundred years of the Mexican Revolution; it is intended to be finished at the end of 2012.
The Line 12 project will be 24.5 kilometres long with 20 stations as well as with 28 to 35 trains operating that will have a capacity of 475.000 passengers on a weekday.
To carry out this highly specialized project, a consortium was formed among ILF and other important European companies (DBI, TÜV-SÜD and HC); it is managed and coordinated by the ILF office in Mexico, involving a team of 27 specialists in different countries.
The services consist of the Technical Assistance, Safety Certification and the Quality Verification of the Procurement with regard to the following areas: signalling, automatic train operation, operating control centre, traction power supply, train radio communication, facilities telecommunication, operation, ticketing, workshop equipment and trackway.
