Design and consulting services for a hydropower plant (pumped storage plant, installed capacity: 480 MW, head: 366 m, design flow: 144 m³/s) nearby Kaprun in the province of Salzburg.

The two existing reservoirs, "Wasserfallboden" and "Mooserboden" with a volume of 81.2 and 84.9 million m³, shall be used for pumped storage operation. The cavern will be equipped with 2 reversible pump-turbine units. The power generation of the pumped storage mode will come to approx. 1,300 million kWh/a. The two reservoirs will be connected by a 5-km-long waterway. All plant components, with the exception of the access structures and the muck material storage areas, will be located below ground. The power plant will be fully automated and will be monitored and remote-controlled from the control centre in Kaprun.
