Study of hydropower potential (installed total capacity: 2,750 MW) in two undeveloped valleys (Palas Valley and Spat Gah) in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) of Pakistan.
A total head of approx. 2000 m is to be made use of in cascades in both valleys, each with three stages. The upper and middle plants are projected as high-pressure storage power stations and the lower ones as high-pressure run-of-river power stations.
In addition to technical aspects socio-economic and ecological aspects had been taken into account. In a first step ILF prepared a desk study for the six hydropower stations. In a next step feasibility studies were elaborated for two selected hydropower stages.
