Full design and consulting services as well as construction supervision for the municipal water supply and sewerage system in Kosovo.
The primary project objective was to immediately improve water supply and sewage disposal by reducing water losses in the supply system and reinstating and upgrading the existing water treatment facilities. The project area encompassed 10 municipalities, covering the entire northern Kosovo including the Serbian part, with a population total of 697,000 (water distribution network length: 370 km, Greater Prishtina, Mitrovica).
Apart from purely water supply related activities, comprehensive measures for a controlled wastewater disposal system were foreseen. The existing sewerage system had many shortcomings due to insufficient maintenance and the occurrence of bottlenecks due to uncontrolled migration and building activities in the post-war period.
