The Komsomolskoe oil field has proven reserves of 34 million barrels (bbl) of oil, which are produced from a total of 14 wells. During 2006/2007, the client launched a well workover campaign to reinstate 8 existing vertical wells and to drill an additional 6 horizontal producers. The central processing facility (CPF) has a production capacity of 12,000 BOPD and consists primarily of a three-stage separation train including intermediate storage facilities for export oil and produced water. Associated gas is partly used for power generation and compressor drivers, while the remaining gas is compressed, sweetened and re-injected into dedicated gas injection wells. Produced water is treated and re-injected into three water injection wells. Using a 6" pipeline with a length of approximately 82 km, which crosses a 16 km stretch of shallow water, the oil is pumped to the Oil Receiving Facility (ORF) at Karakuduk. From there the oil is exported into the KTO (KazTransOil) pipeline system.
Starting in August 2009, first oil was produced at minimum rates. The production has since then been ramped up to its plateau rate of 10,000 bbl/d.
