New Lines for Metro de Caracas

The Government of Venezuela decided to dramatically improve public transport capacity on several areas of Caracas by means of planning important extensions on the existing Metro Lines, as well as to built a complete new suburban railway to link Guarenas and Guatire in the outskirts on the east of Caracas, with downtown areas connected to the Metro infrastructure.

Additionally a deep revamping and modernization of Line 1 of Metro de Caracas, including complete replacement of the existing trains as well as its automatic train operation system has been envisaged in order to achieve a reliable train operation with an constant time train interval of max 90 seconds.

Metro Caracas Line 1 is currently transporting over one million passengers per day and the planned target is to transport at least 1,3 million passengers /day before end of 2012.
