Renewable energy

The utilisation of renewable energy contributes significantly to protect the climate and helps municipal energy suppliers to both improve their CO2 balance and to reduce their dependency on expensive fossil fuels. Biomass power plants, geothermal plants and, in case of suitable locations, wind power plants and solar power plants are gaining significance for regional and local supply of power and heat.

For the design and implementation of these projects, ILF is able to deliver one-stop engineering services, making use of current and specific knowhow in the field of renewable energy, more than 40 years of experience in handling such projects and a comprehensive resource base from its other business areas.

In addition to providing engineering services throughout all project phases, ILF also assists its clients in developing customised energy concepts while optimising energy consumption and total investment, in developing financing strategies, in organising and assisting permit application procedures and construction supervision and start-up.

ILF plans and designs the following types of plant:

  • Photovoltaic power plants
  • Combined heat and power biomass plants (biomass CHP)
  • Hydropower plants (Business area Hydropower)
  • Concentrated solar power plants
  • Biogas plants
  • 2nd generation biofuel production facilities
  • Waste treatment facilities ("waste to energy")
  • Geothermal power plants
  • Wind farms
