Selection of railway alignment for the Unterinntal valley railway line between Schaftenau and Kundl completed

After several years of designing, the selection of the railway alignment for the new Unterinntal valley railway line between Schaftenau and Kundl (approx. 22 km, twin tracks, 250 km/h) was completed. Special focus was put on the intensive cooperation with municipalities and with regional interest groups. The main pillar of the selection procedure to find the “overall best alignment” was developing an objective assessment system based on a systematic approach with cost-benefit-studies.

ILF was the leading partner for BEG and ÖBB during the entire design stage. The tasks comprised, amongst others, technical design, methodical approach, public involvement, assessment of the environmental impacts as well as support for the ground investigation.
