The "Kramertunnel" Project from a Geological View Point

Already in May 2005 ILF Innsbruck was awarded a design contract for the relocation of the national road B23 west of Garmisch-Partenkirchen- section "Kramer Tunnel". The contract comprises the geological works for the official approval of the plans, including general mapping, hydro-geological mapping of springs, tendering and supervision of drilling works and the design of the route and the tunnel for the permit application.

The "Kramer Tunnel", which has been designed with one tube and an additional emergency gallery, is intended to by-pass Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The tunnel, with a total length of 3.577m, has been judged to be especially challenging from a geological point of view. After the completion of the site investigations currently the geological-hydrological results are being analysed and tunnel design works are underway.
