EDF and EnBW ordered to construct the CRYSTAL gas storage facility at Etzel (Germany) for gas trading purposes and have signed a cavity lease agreement with IVG for four salt caverns with the potential for future extension. The gas plant is designed with two production trains of electrical driven turbo gas compressors operating in parallel. For gas withdrawal from the caverns, two glycol dehydration facilities are foreseen.

- 4 salt caverns of 650,000 m3 each
- Total working gas capacity: approx. 351 m Nm³
- 2 production trains: 2 x 50%
- Gas injection rate: max. 300,000 Nm3/h
- Gas withdrawal rate: max. 600,000 Nm3/h
- Option for plant extension: +4 caverns, +2 trains
- Gas plant operation time: 35 years
