The project purpose is to transport of crude oil from the Sangachal Terminal in Baku, Azerbaijan to the Ceyhan terminal in Turkey, located at the Mediterranean Sea. ILF did the Detailed Engineering and Engineering Support during Construction for Turnkey contractor for the overall engineering of the project, but in particular comprising the Terminal at Ceyhan with tank farm (7 x 150,000 m³) and jetty for 2 x 300,000 DWT Tankers. Services on the pipeline system included:
- Basic DesignDetailed Design for all pipeline, pump stations and marine terminal in Ceyhan including vapour gathering and incineration
- Detailed route selection including definition of the centre line
- Detailed Engineering of SCADA and Telecommunication System
- Aerial and topographic survey, definition of pipeline route
- Preparation of tender documents for construction works and equipment supply
- Full procurement and contracting services up to contract signature
- Incorporation of Vendor Design into Detail Design for free issued materials
- Engineering follow up during construction and commissioning
The length of Turkish Section comprised approximately 1070 km of 42", 46", 34" diameter, capacity designed for 50 MT/A with 4 pump stations (90 MW),1 pressure control station, cathodic protection system. As a matter of particular interest, a peak elevation of 2,800 m and complex seismic zones (e.g. big Anatolian fault) needed to be crossed, the overall system length comprised 1,750 km.
