The A09 motorway not only links the cities of Linz and Graz in the Austrian transport network, but is also of international relevance in the European transport network. The A09 forms part of the European E57 route and is thus also part of the northwest-southeast axis that connects Nuremberg with Zagreb. It comprises a transit route to southeastern Europe (Turkey, Greece). The A09 runs from the “Voralpenkreuz” motorway junction in Upper Austria (A1/A8/A9) 220 km to the Austrian-Slovenian border at Spielfeld/Styria.
