WHAT WE DO

WHAT WE DO

The Structural Engineering department has been one of the key pillars of our company for many years. Working closely with the Transport Engineering Department, we implement large, interdisciplinary projects – primarily in the area of railway construction.

We independently secure contracts and design bridges, cut-and-cover tunnels and a wide variety of retaining structures, supporting the transition towards climate-friendly mobility.
Our portfolio also includes the modernization of railway stations.

Our work comprises the delivery of services, from the early phases of projects – i.e. feasibility studies and conceptual design – to the later phases of projects – i.e. construction/detailed design including all the documents required for this, such as structural calculations and analysis, technical reports, 3D models and drawings.
Regardless of whether or not our clients request for their projects to be processed using the BIM method, we use 3D models in our planning and design works. To turn these 3D models into BIM models, our models are supplemented with the information required for the respective phase of the project (service phase).

OUR TEAM

WHO YOU’LL BE WORKING WITH

Our department (with approximately 30 employees) is made up of Design Engineers, Project Engineers, Project Managers and Technical Experts specializing in the areas of Structural Steel and Concrete Engineering.

We work closely with many other departments, such as the Transport Engineering department, the Tunnel Engineering department, the Hydropower & Alpine Engineering department, the Water and Environmental Engineering department and the Pipeline and Plants department, sharing our expertise with other ILF colleagues.

Depending on requirements, we form individual project teams and are additionally supported by Team Assistants. We make every effort to ensure continuity in our management of projects so that we can assist with the entire planning cycle. We furthermore foster a cooperative and trusting atmosphere in our team, whereby independent work is promoted and the greatest possible support is ensured from a professional point of view.

“Enthusiasm, teamwork and personal responsibility – these are the cornerstones of our department. The high level of competence which our team has, and our goal-oriented way of working enable us to master even difficult challenges together. We have strengthened ILF’s name in the field of infrastructure projects in recent years and have helped the company to newly establish itself in the area of bridge construction. We draw our motivation from projects, which we 100% support, as well as from very cooperative partnerships with colleagues and the greatest possible flexibility when it comes to working conditions.”

MEET YOUR COLLEAGUES

“For 15 years now, I have greatly appreciated the working culture, mutual support and the willingness to share knowledge within ILF. I also get to act as an intermediary between two cultures in international project work. Collaboration with various companies worldwide allows me to put my mother tongue (Chinese) to use as another valuable resource.”

“I find the international part of my work particularly rewarding. On the one hand, online communication via MS Teams allows people from all over the world to interact and exchange ideas with each other within a very short space of time. On the other hand, my longer stays abroad have given me the opportunity to see the bigger picture and get to know other cultures. Another benefit of working at ILF is the family-friendly nature and flexibility which the company gives employees when it comes to taking time off for paternity leave.”

Deputy Department Manager – Structural Engineering

“For me, having the chance to further develop my skill set is an important part of my work philosophy. The variety of projects which I get to work on allows me to pursue my desire for new challenges and learn new things. I also particularly value the chance to connect with other colleagues worldwide through ILF’s Club of Young Engineers.”
