WHAT WE DO

WHAT WE DO

The Transport Engineering Department East* has been involved in a variety of transport infrastructure projects for more than 30 years. Our focus is on planning and designing railways, roads and urban transport systems, whether as part of large-scale or small-scale projects, or any type of project in between. We provide a wide range of services, from overall planning and design services to niche services, preparing feasibility studies, providing support during the permit application procedure and construction design. Through these services, we support clients in the realisation of often difficult infrastructure projects, for which the planning and implementation phases often take several years (or even decades), and which are sometimes the subject of controversial public debate.

*The range of tasks performed by the departments Transport Engineering East and Transport Engineering West overlap in many respects, but when it comes to contracts, the two departments “divide” their work in Austria between East and West.

In the areas of conflicting interest between social objectives, individual concerns and predicted environmental impacts, we see it as our duty to develop excellent technical solutions for each of these projects, taking account of the various constraints and interests in the best possible way. Our aim is to improve people’s quality of life through our balanced planning and design services and the resulting infrastructure, while at the same time limiting the impact on people and the environment to an acceptable level. While pursuing this aim, it is essential that we provide our clients with the best possible impartial advice and support them in their decision-making.

In the transport sector, improving people’s quality of life is always linked to safety. In addition to providing traditional planning and design services, particularly in the field of tunnel safety planning and design, our highly specialized team uses the latest tools to assess the safety of road and rail tunnels. This enables us to recommend measures to achieve the highest possible level of safety, thereby making a positive contribution to the quality of life.

OUR TEAM

WHO YOU’LL BE WORKING WITH

Around 45 employees work in the Transport Engineering Department East at ILF’s offices in Linz, Vienna and Graz.

We are used to working in dynamic project teams and to networking across the different work locations. We attach great importance to teamwork and foster a spirit of togetherness in which cheerfulness and a sense of fun are never lost.

In addition, we try to give each other the necessary support so that each team member can develop according to their personal preferences, talents, competences and experience.

“In our department, we support and provide planning and design services for demanding transport infrastructure projects. In doing so, we face the constant challenges that come with such projects. In difficult situations, we help each other and our team spirit brings us together. We can proudly look back on the numerous projects we have successfully implemented, and can “experience”, in the truest sense of the word, the results of our work in real world. From these “experiences” we also draw the motivation for upcoming tasks, which we fulfil with passion and dedication.”

MEET YOUR COLLEAGUES

“Having been working as a Project Manager at ILF for 12 years now, I am still as enthusiastic about working for the company as I was when I joined. I still very much appreciate the competence of my colleagues, the positive team spirit, the chance to exchange thoughts both on professional and personal topics within our team, and the respectful manner with which we treat each other. As a mother of two children, I am also able to benefit from the high degree of flexibility which ILF gives its employees, and I am proud to be a part of the great ILF family.”

“The four most important aspects of working life at ILF that make me want to go to work every day are: the trust which experienced employees place in young employees; the flexibility at work – which allows me to optimally combine my professional and personal obligations, and also my goals; the opportunities that only an internationally renowned company can offer; and the family-like spirit amongst our team in Linz, which creates a supportive and cooperative working atmosphere that enhances the cohesiveness of our team and promotes every individual’s success.”

Engineering Manager

“What I appreciate about our department is being able to work together with colleagues who can be relied on even during work-intensive project phases. During my participation in the ILF Trainee Program, I had the opportunity to get to know other ILF office locations – and it was nice to see that this spirit of working together and helping each other can also be found at other ILF offices.”
