WHAT WE DO

WHAT WE DO

In the Water and Environmental Engineering department, we deal with almost all parts of the water cycle, from water resource development, drinking water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment to the drainage and utilization of surface water.

Furthermore, we handle process water treatment for industrial facilities, as well as current topics such as flood risk management and the recycling and reuse of treated wastewater.

We carry out many projects as the lead department (e.g. designing the expansion of wastewater plants). In these projects we are responsible for project acquisition as well as project implementation, and accordingly provide acquisition management and project management services, along with technical expertise. In addition, we support other departments with the implementation of their projects by supplying them with specific expert knowledge (e.g. related to surface water management, construction site dewatering, and construction site water treatment facilities, etc.). In these projects, the experts from our team work directly with colleagues from other departments.

OUR TEAM

WHO YOU’LL BE WORKING WITH

Our department (with approximately 25 employees) is made up of Project Managers as well as Technical Experts, Engineers and Design Engineers mainly with backgrounds in (Municipal and Industrial) Process Engineering as well as Civil Engineering.

However, only a few projects are carried out exclusively by the staff in our department. We work a lot with technical experts from other departments in order to deliver projects that have as few interfaces as possible for our clients, and at the same time embrace the ONE-ILF philosophy for the benefit of these clients.

Depending on requirements, we form project teams that are supported by administrative experts. At all times, the atmosphere in our department is very friendly and based on mutual respect and support.

“Thanks to their competence, flexibility and openness, the staff in the Water and Environmental Engineering department manage to work on a great diversity of topics and implement equally diverse projects on different continents, with a relatively small team. I am proud of the enthusiasm and great willingness of everyone in the team to go along with and adapt to project-specific requirements – both on a professional and personal level. It is important to me that there is always a sense of fun and enjoyment when we work, and that as a team we are able to solve difficult situations through open and active communication.”

MEET YOUR COLLEAGUES

“I started my professional life at ILF and have been supported and respected by experienced colleagues from the very beginning. Now – many challenging and varied projects later – I am still learning a lot, but I am even more pleased that I too can now pass on my acquired knowledge to younger colleagues.”

Barbara H.

Project Engineer

“What do I like about ILF? The many different engineering disciplines and projects; discussing social but also professional topics with the team and my co-workers; and being involved in huge projects that also have a positive impact on the environment – even in remote locations, for example, in Riyadh or in the exotic coral reef area on the Red Sea.”

Project Manager

“Besides working in the office, I have always found business trips to countries in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa very enriching. Through the many business trips that I’ve been on, I’ve been able to experience the respective country and culture in a completely different way than I would have been able to as a tourist.”
