The Construction Management department was founded at a very early stage in ILF’s history, having a focus on providing on-site support to clients during the realization of large-scale projects designed by ILF, such as the Arlberg Tunnel or new railway lines for the German national railway company “Deutsche Bahn”. In addition to successfully implementing numerous large-scale tunnel construction projects, involving shell construction and installation of technical equipment for railway lines and road construction projects, the Construction Management department has also established itself in other business areas. For example, the Construction Management department also manages hydopower plant construction and wastewater treatment plant construction projects.
A more recent area in which our department has established itself is in the rehabilitation and renewal of different types of infrastructure, predominantly including the rehabilitation of road and rail tunnels and bridges, as well as the renewal of entire track systems and railway stations.
We are proud to assist with major projects such as the Semmering Base Tunnel, Stuttgart 21 and the Upgrade of the Gleinalm Tunnel. Our services range ʺfrom the groundbreaking ceremony to commissioningʺ and we support clients with all matters such as with the technical implementation of their projects, with quality control, and with accounting.
Furthermore, our scope of activities has successively expanded over the years, suffice to say we no longer provide only site supervision services. Today, alongside providing comprehensive project management services, including cost and schedule planning during the design and construction phase of projects, we also provide construction and contract management services, integrated project control and support during the bidding and contract award procedures.
The Construction Management department has approximately 50 employees working in small and large project teams of between 2 and 30 people, depending on the size of the project.
Our younger colleagues are given the opportunity to receive guidance and training from experienced Project Managers. We believe in “learning by doing” and help these colleagues gain valuable experience in preparation for taking on management roles in the future.
ILF invests in the development of our team to ensure the continued successful delivery of major projects.
“It is a great pleasure to work with my colleagues in the Construction Management department, thanks to their commitment, their flexibility and the determination with which they, together with clients and all other involed parties, contribute to the professional and successful implementation of construction projects. Having the ability to work well in a team and to think in a solution-oriented manner, as well as being able to react quickly to challenges and subsequently make the necessary decisions, are all skills that distinguish the colleagues in our department. The willingness of both the experienced and young engineers in project teams to work together, and their motivation, promotes further development in our everyday work and the good working atmosphere we have in our team.”
