Our Environmental Engineering department was founded in 1994. While in the early days, as a small department with only a few team members, the focus was predominantly on supporting technical projects with environmental matters, the size and type of the projects and work that our department is involved in has changed significantly in recent years.
Today, we are working on more and more projects related to the energy transition, which are of significance both in Austria and abroad. The provision of comprehensive project support as well as technical assistance is at the very center of our work at our department’s two locations in Rum near Innsbruck and in Vienna.
In addition to providing environmental planning and design services, our consulting services related to climate change and sustainability are becoming increasingly important.
Not only for projects with a focus on sustainability and climate change, but also in general for all of our projects, we combine the knowledge of all of our experts into smaller and larger teams, as required, and work together on the tasks assigned to us.
Our main activities include:
- Environmental planning
- Spatial planning
- Management of the permitting and approval process (design coordination):
• Performing Environmental Impact Assessments (“EIA” – DACH region) / Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (“ESIA” – internationally)
• Species protection
• Natura 2000 – Design works focusing on landscape protection and nature conservation
• Preparation of landscape management plans
• Preparation of permit application documents in compliance with nature conservation legislation Sustainable Solutions
• Materiality analysis
• Sustainability roadmaps
• Greenhouse gas assessments
Our department (with approximately 50 employees) is mostly made up of Biologists, but also of Spatial Planners, Landscape Designers, Geographers, Soil Scientists, Engineers and a Political Scientist.
We are a diverse group of people, and each make our own individual contribution to our team thanks to our different backgrounds, skill sets and perspectives. This diversity makes our work more interesting as we are always able to find new ideas and solutions. We all agree that each and every member of our team is equal and must have the same opportunities, regardless of their gender, origin or cultural background. In addition to our diversity, our team spirit is also something special.
Every one of us in the department is willing to help and support each other. In this way, we grow not only as individuals, but also as a team.
“We are a strong team and proud of everything that we achieve together. By working together, we have succeeded in building up a department characterized by a diversity of tasks and team members, equality and team spirit, which provides every one of us with new motivation every day.”

“I greatly appreciate the variety of tasks I get to work on thanks to the diverse range of topics that our department deals with, as well as the collegiality and great team spirit fostered within our team.
