The Management Consulting department was founded during the reorganization of the ILF Group in 2022 and provides consulting and advisory services for all of ILF’s business areas.
We assist clients during all phases of projects, from market surveys and feasibility studies (pre-feasibility and bankable feasibility studies), to analyzing business models and master planning, as well as providing transaction advisory services and support during bidding and contract award procedures. Services such as the performance of due diligence checks, provision of lenders’ technical advisory services as well as investment and asset management on a national and predominantly international level also form part of our service portfolio.
We advise our clients on complex assignments, analyze demand, jointly develop possible solutions and thus provide the necessary basis for decision-making. The main competitive advantage for clients when they work with us is that we, as a “full-service provider”, provide all of our services (management consulting, project management and engineering) from a single source, as one comprehensive “worry-free” package.
Around 40 colleagues work very closely together in the Management Consulting Unit (MCU) at a total of four different office locations, in Vienna, Innsbruck, Munich and Dubai. Our department itself has around 20 employees, and is based in Vienna and Innsbruck. Our own Centralized Proposal Management team provides us with administrative support and helps us in matters relating to business development, marketing and acquisition and with Project Management Office (PMO) topics. We try to work together efficiently and effectively, using new working methods.
Taking an integrated approach as and when needed, the MCU works closely together with the different technical departments at ILF and with various regional ILF offices. There is a friendly and supportive team spirit in our department, based on mutual appreciation and a willingness to help each other. External partners also complement our team, supporting us in the areas of strategy, legal affairs, financing and architecture.
In addition to the above, we also work with public clients, ministries and their consultants, banks, financing institutions and development banks, as well as investors, the industry, project developers and private organizations.
“Our Consulting Unit comprises a highly qualified and dynamic team specialized in helping clients to achieve their strategic goals and find solutions to complex issues. With sound expertise in various fields related to technical infrastructure, we offer actionable insights, innovative solutions and practical support according to specific needs. Our international and interdisciplinary experts’ main professional focus areas are strategy, management, financing, legal affairs and engineering. This mix enables us to approach complex challenges from different perspectives and to use our collective knowledge and experience to provide tailor-made recommendations for complicated tasks. The strength of our department lies in our experts and the strength of our experts lies in our interdisciplinary team.”

MEET YOUR COLLEAGUES
“Working in the Management Consulting department has so far proven to be a fulfilling journey, characterized by a combination of several factors. First, the international composition of the team gives a special flavor to our work culture – cultural exchange and mutual learning are not only facilitated, but celebrated. Second, we get to work on challenging and also interesting projects in our department, which constantly encourage me to expand my skills. This aspect, coupled with the collaborative spirit that extends beyond our team and involves different departments, makes every project an exciting and rewarding challenge. The cross-departmental collaboration not only adds to the complexity and depth of our work, but also strengthens the close relationships within ILF – which I find very dynamic and fulfilling.”
Geet B.
Senior Project Manager
“Due to the variety of projects that we get to work on in all of ILF’s business areas, as well as the different technical, economic and legal requirements that we have to satisfy, all projects are a challenge for the team members in the Management Consulting department.”

“In the dynamic environment of management consulting, we see learning as the key to our success. Every project presents us with new challenges and helps us grow, both professionally and personally. Working with a diverse team of experts from different backgrounds not only allows us to benefit from considering things from different perspectives, but also broadens our horizons and promotes our continuous development. That’s what fascinates me about my work and motivates me to keep growing and developing.”

“At MCU, we frequently assist clients from various sectors in their early decision-making stages. Our mandates are typically short, allowing us to engage with a broad range of topics and unique client needs.
We operate at a high level, integrating technical concepts with financial and legal considerations. To achieve this, we work closely with our expert colleagues in engineering departments, especially when addressing in-depth technical matters and solutions.
I appreciate the internationality of ILF and the diversity of our team in particular. Almost every opportunity to interact with colleagues from across the company is a learning experience, enriching both my professional and personal growth.”

“In our team, cooperation between experienced experts and career starters is strongly encouraged in daily project work. Both young and old equally benefit from this! Sharing knowledge and experience is fun and, for me, is a key success factor in the consulting business.”

“For a project in Romania, we were asked to perform water flow measurements on existing main pipelines. Due to the project schedule, we could only perform these measurements during winter. It was cold and I was wearing all of my thermal ski gear. In the morning when we started, the outside temperature was below -25°C. Nevertheless, the measurements were successful, not least thanks to the spontaneous support of the locals at a nearby gas station, who offered us tea and a warm waiting room while the measuring equipment did its work.”
