Disaster Risk Management

One of the most decisive factors for the successful development, construction and operation of infrastructure systems is the assessment and management of natural hazards – e.g. erosion, slope instabilities (landslides), flooding and seismic hazards – which are often consequences of climate change. When developing and designing engineering projects, it is of utmost importance to assess various types of potential natural hazards by conducting desk and field studies that are supported by geotechnical investigations. Subsequently, appropriate mitigation measures are planned.

Role of ILF

Natural hazard management is part of the design process and focuses on sustainable and cost effective project solutions and safe operation. ILF engages in the whole lifecycle of engineering projects and is involved in feasibility studies, all design phases, and in construction and operation. ILF’s experts assess and analyze the site conditions to provide the best possible management of natural hazards.

Benefits to Clients

  • ILF’s experts regularly collaborate with international project teams
  • ILF’s experts constantly increase their knowledge by participating in natural hazard research projects
  • ILF maintains a network with experts and universities
  • ILF provides all related fields of engineering expertise (one-stop shop) including project management, engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, risk management, civil engineering, as well as construction engineering and consultancy
