ILF designs the Port Said Railway Tunnel in Egypt

The 5.6 km long tunnel will underpass the Suez canal, connecting the mainland with the Sinai peninsula approximately 25 km south of Port Said city. The tunnel will be advanced in the extremely unfavourable soils of the Nile delta.
The design shall meet EU standards and comprises the alignment of the railway line with stations, geological analyses, the development of a tunnel system and a tunnel safety concept, the design of the tunnel structures including geotechnical and structural aspects as well as the design of the electrical and electro-mechanical systems.
