Dr. Hans Georg Wechsler
Hans Georg Wechsler (1946) went to the secondary technical and vocational school in Innsbruck and then went on to study mechanical engineering at Vienna’s University of Technology, specializing in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics and graduating as Diplom-Ingenieur in 1972. In the first five years of his professional career he worked for ILF Munich on major pipeline, pumping station, and compressor station projects in Germany, Italy, Austria, Algeria, and Iraq. Following his dissertation on hydraulic calculations for gas pipelines, he graduated as Dr. Techn. from the University of Technology in Vienna. After three years as technical director of an international process plant company, Hans Georg Wechsler founded an engineering office in his home province of Tyrol, providing civil engineering services in mechanical engineering and court expert services for industrial plants and pipeline technology. The focus of his work was on designing more than 160 snow-making systems in the Alps, where Dr. Wechsler played a pioneering role in the development of snow-making technology. In early 2002, Hans Georg Wechsler handed over his clients and his know-how to ILF Innsbruck to help it start a new Alpine Engineering department which, supported by Mr. Wechsler’s consultancy services, has been able to establish its position as a market leader and further develop this field of expertise. Hans Georg Wechsler is married and the father of one son. He enjoys classical music and mountains.
